We’ve managed to get the chance to travel north looking for a beach with smaller or fewer crowds to unwind and loosen up a bit of weekday stress and to our dismay, we end up having a fresh of air with an interesting food delicacy ” Fried “Penoy Balut” egg to standby at the back of Compostela Cebu Public Market’s newly finished boulevard by the sea.

On the exit area we stumble upon an intriguing food delicacy called “Fried Penoy Balut Egg” displayed in one of the stalls.

To get more details of the food we’ve decided to park beside the stall for a taste and converse with the vendor.

The intriguing food was really the famous street food delicacy in the Philippines, the infertile duck egg called “penoy balut”.

The process is similar to penoy balut but with a twist of the addon as they will wrap it with chicken egg & flour mix prior to deep-frying it.

The taste is really really really good! I would say it is much better than the plain “Penoy Balut”. Considering it is less messy and it wont take much time to eat. My wife and my son love it too.

According to them, it all started with a few tries selling at the highway in front of the public market and the people start loving it to the point it was included as one of the street food delicacies in their municipality and become known to many and the rest is put into record as one of the creative food delicacies of Compostela, Cebu by the people.

Benefits

The best part of the whole day fun and food exploration was a bunch of take-out for another round of meal in the house. hahaha

If we talk about health benefits, I would say, a couple of it for a day dose is enough just to get the right amount of lean protein and little of calories for a regular healthy person.

The other benefit is the cost. It’s really cheap! It only cos Php15.00 per egg.  It much cheaper than the “Penoy Balut” which cost nowadays for Php18.00/ egg. It is really a cost-saving and affordable snack or meal.

And to mention, it is easy to prepare and cook.
